The first ever Abelardo Lafuente Lecture happened in Shanghai during the Cervantes Institute Week in September 2010 thanks to the support from the Spanish Consulate in Shanghai (Mr. Segura Moris) and the "Biblioteca Miguel de Cervantes of Shanghai (Mrs. Rosell) (Madrid), last September 14th, named "Abelardo Lafuente, the first Spanish architect in China".

As part of the cultural week organized by the Instituto Cervantes during the Expo, the center organized, together with Alvaro Leonardo, not only the lecture but also public buses for the attendees to jump into the bus after the lecture and go to the exact spots where his unknown architecture is still standing in the city. An amazing guided tour happened after the lecture, bringing 50 surprised and interested people to know more about the Spanish imprint in Shanghai at the Golden Era of the city.

This time, the lecture was a public event with a limited capacity of 80 people. Language: Spanish and translation to Chinese language.
