It is a building made of load-bearing walls, since the news that refers to the beginning of the construction of the building in 1918 describes them as very large and robust. Thanks to the description of the property in the newspaper, we can know that the materials originally used were not particularly ostentatious, but they were of very good quality. Unfortunately prior the opening a fire destroyed the whole property and was abandoned by the original owners and members of the well known Jewish community in Shanghai.
The building's marble interiors were probably included later in 1924 by the English architects “Brown & Wingrove” when they had to remodel it and adapt it to the tastes of the Jewish Kadooire family, who used it and gave the property the greatest fame.
