This letter from project partner Rafael Silvestre details the progress of the Casino y Casa de Beneficencia Española in Tijuana. Silvestre managed Barcelona Comercial (a curio shop owned by Enrique Silvestre, where Lafuente was employed during his stay in Tijuana). He notes that despite tight budget constraints, the project remains remarkably luxurious compared to others. He writes:
"The stall has changed remarkably. I'm not trying to brag, but it looks very nice and, above all, original. I spent very little, but it looks like a much larger investment than any other. I decorated the top of the display cases with 16-inch pieces of black glass and several 10-inch mirrors, separated by a half-inch molding that ties the combination of glass pieces together. This molding is painted gold with a lilac background, which, in short, looks charming, as the color is very eye-catching."
