Hotel Victoria Project

Despite a decade-long partnership with Hong Kong & Shanghai Hotels Ltd. (HSH), Lafuente was never permitted to design a ground-up building for the company—a restriction driven strictly by his nationality. Instead, his brilliance was confined indoors. Between 1925 and 1926, he transformed the interiors of the HSH hotel on Shamian Island (Canton), now Guangzhou, leaving behind a masterclass in interior design that hid his true potential behind closed doors.
