This cathedral proposal design seems to have a clear influence from the Almudena Cathedral in Madrid by Francisco de Cubas (1883).
Following these guidelines of the Almudena, Lafuente & Yaron simplified it.
Fuzhou proposal is resolved with a Latin cross plan with three naves, with an apse apse of five polygonal chapels, and a somewhat disproportionate transept. The imafront is also dominated by a large central rose window and the two towers seem to be better proportioned in this case.
The dome is notable but not disproportionate. The result of the project is great lightness and elegance.
