About the event

Lecture at the Cultural Section of the Spanish Consulate in Shanghai (Biblioteca Miguel de Cervantes in Anfu Road) about the life and works of Abelardo Lafuente during his period in China more than a hundred years ago.

The story of the unknown presence in China of a Spanish architect in the decades of the greatest international cultural mix in the city of Shanghai will be presented. Abelardo Lafuente (Madrid 1871-Shanghai 1931) began his career in the Spanish Philippines in 1898, he triumphed in China until 1926 and his fame in Asia took him to Hollywood and Mexico. 

In his three long decades of prolific career, he carried out projects of all kinds in five countries on two continents.
